The impact of insulin sensitivity on the potential of metformin to delay age-related inflammation
Description: Numerous studies support the premise that inflammation rises in aging. Drugs with anti- inflammatory actions such as metformin may promote healthspan, the length of one's life spent in good health, especially if given prior to onset of age-related declines. We will analyze deidentified samples from an NIA-funded clinical trial to test the possibility that baseline insulin sensitivity impacts the ability of metformin to ameliorate pathogenic inflammation.
