Brainstem glial senescence and dysfunction in obesity-induced hypertension
Description: The economic and social impact of obesity has reached an all-time high of almost 1.4 trillion dollars in 2018, of which 40% is attributed to cardiovascular diseases. The current proposal will address a novel central mechanism that could be pharmacologically targeted for reducing or preventing the heightened risk for cardiovascular diseases in obese individuals.
