Exploring the biology of persistent type 2 airway niches in asthma
Description: Project Narrative This program project grant renews a highly-successful collaboration between leading clinical scientists, immunologists, and cell biologists who seek to uncover the key tissue-immune checkpoints that lead to persistent airway type 2 inflammation and mucus plug formation in asthma. Here we use novel experimental approaches including image guided bronchoscopy and high-dimensional single cell analytics to decode the regulatory networks that sustain severe disease. Our research focuses on discoveries that will directly impact the health of patients for whom current treatments have failed.
