Racial and Socioeconomic Differences in Chronic Low Back Pain

Description: PROJECT NARRATIVE The impact of social stressors such as economic hardships, inter-personal violence, social isolation, unstable access to healthcare, and other major life events/daily hassles on the progression of chronic low back pain (cLBP) remains poorly understood. The goal of this project is to elucidate the influence of social stressors, and their biological consequences (i.e., allostatic load), on cLBP by prospectively assessing the two-year progression of clinical pain and disability among people residing in the greater St. Louis MO and Nashville TN metropolitan areas.
