METTL3 in Cardiac Benefits of Exercise in Diabetes

Description: NARRATIVE Diabetic cardiomyopathy is a major complication and the leading cause of death and disability in patients with diabetes. Exercise is an effective strategy for the prevention and treatment of diabetic cardiomyopathy, however, the underlying molecular mechanisms remain poorly understood. The proposed research will explore the role of METTL3, a N6-methyladenosine methyltransferase, in diabetic cardiomyopathy and the cardiac benefits of exercise, with the vision of establishing clinically relevant approaches targeting METTL3 to treat diabetic cardiomyopathy. 1
