Risk and resilience mechanisms underlying race disparities in ADRD: An examination of neighborhood resources, social networks, brain integrity, and cognition
Description: PROJECT NARRATIVE Characterizing mechanisms that create and sustain racial disparities in Alzheimer's disease and related dementias (ADRD) is of critical importance to the diverse, aging population of the U.S. The proposed project will fill an important void in examining the extent to which neighborhood resources contribute to disparities in brain and cognitive aging, as well as whether social networks can buffer against neighborhood disadvantage. Results could have implications for interventions targeted at multiple levels to prevent or delay age-related cognitive decline and reduce racial disparities in ADRD.
