Role of adipose tissue inflammaging and metabolic dysfunction during sepsis

Description: PROJECT NARRATIVE This application focuses on the roles of the activation of the immune cells within visceral adipose tissue during sepsis in the elderly. We investigate how inflammasome activated-macrophages and adipose B cells contribute to impaired lipolysis during sepsis. The cellular signaling mechanisms that are identified will provide new therapeutic targets to reduce morbidity to septic infection in the elderly.
