Pharmacologic Lysosomal Flux Activators to Ameliorate Alzheimer's Disease and Related Dementias
Description: Six million Americans live with Alzheimer’s disease or related dementias and there are no disease modifying drugs. The proposed research will potentially lead to new treatment options based on lysosomal degradation activators, which would address this significant public health need. Defining the mechanism by which our lysosomal degradation activators function to normalize familial Alzheimer’s disease phenotypes in cellular and organoid models is aligned with NIH’s mission to develop fundamental knowledge of human disease that can be translated into benefits for patients.
