Advancing Health Disparities Research in Aging: The Aging Research in Criminal Justice & Health (ARCH) Network
Description: PROJECT NARRATIVE The number of older adults involved in the criminal legal system (“justice-involved older adults”) has risen dramatically in recent decades, resulting in a growing population of older adults with profound, often co- occurring social and medical vulnerabilities and high rates of health disparities. We launched the ARCH (Aging Research in Criminal Justice Health) Network in 2019 a nationwide, multi-disciplinary community of emerging and established researchers, to catalyze research and interventions designed to improve health and social outcomes in the growing population of criminal justice-involved older adults. This proposal will further develop and sustain The ARCH Network to support emerging and established investigators to advance the conduct and dissemination of research on the health and social drivers of criminal legal system involvement and its consequences on health in later life and to accelerate the translation of this research into practice and policy that can care for this population.
