Quantitating, Targeting, and Phenotyping In Vivo Cellular Senescence in Humans
Description: PROJECT NARRATIVE The targeted removal of cells in a dysfunctional `senescent' state is a promising strategy to improve health and improve many diseases, but reliable `biomarkers' to identify, target, and isolate these cells in humans are lacking. Our work will identify these biomarkers and isolate senescent cells from humans for the first time. We hope that this work will create new ways to treat patients with therapies that selectively remove these dysfunctional cells.
