Development of Novel Cancer Therapeutics by Targeting Sphingolipid Signaling
Description: PUBLIC HEALTH RELEVANCE: The overall goal of this Program Project is to determine common mechanisms that are inter-regulated by sphingosine 1-phosphate (S1P) signaling that induces cancer cell proliferation, resistance to stress-induced apoptosis, and metastasis to distant organs, and to utilize this mechanistic information for the development of novel therapeutic strategies to treat patients with solid tumors by targeting specific S1P signaling cascades.
