Kynurenic Acid and Sleep: Focus on Maternal and Offspring Health
Description: Prenatal insults elevate risks to both maternal and offspring health. We will investigate enhanced tryptophan to kynurenine metabolism as a shared mechanism of prenatal insults in an effort to define, treat, and prevent adverse sleep and metabolism dynamics that disrupt a healthy pregnancy. The following proposal is designed to test the novel hypothesis that elevated kynurenic acid during the prenatal developmental period is causally linked to poor quality sleep and cognitive dysfunction.
