Haemodynamic and metabolic determinants of heart failure with preserved ejection fraction in obesity
Description: Heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) accounts for the majority of heart failure cases. Obesity increases the risk of HFpEF, which is hard to diagnose without invasive tests. We will use specialised heart imaging to predict HFpEF development and outcomes. We will also compare the effects of weight loss from surgery or a new medication (tirzepatide) on heart structure/function. Our aim is to improve early detection and treatment of HFpEF in people with obesity.
