The concept of "death from senility" clarified from the trajectory of a specific decrease in BMI and energy intake in the dying elderly
Description: 超高齢者人口の増加とともに「老衰」による死が増え，日本人の死因の第3位となっている。今後もさらに増えると予測されるが，いわゆる老衰死について明確な診断基準が存在しない。そこで本研究の目的は，死に至る前から体格指数(Body Mass Index; BMI)や食事摂取量(kcal)は減少するという研究者のこれまでの研究をもとに，より多数の高齢者を対象として，老衰死に至る段階を分析することで老衰死の概念を明確にすることである。これにより，治療の可能性があるにも関わらず老衰とされることが防がれ，また死が不可避であることの共通認識できればその高齢者に対して理想的なケアが提供できるものと考えられる。
