Dietary patterns and hearing loss in middle aged and older Americans
Description: PROJECT NARRATIVE Age-related hearing loss is an increasing health concern among middle-aged and older Americans since it is associated with, and is an independent predictor of subsequent declines in physical and cognitive function, disability and institutionalization. The proposed project aims to characterize adherence to a Mediterranean- style eating pattern in middle-aged and older Americans and examine its associations with age-related hearing loss. The study will make positive contributions in identifying effective strategies in delaying the onset and preventing hearing loss as individuals age.
