Mosaic loss of Y chromosome in blood and heart failure
Description: NARRATIVE Loss of the Y chromosome in the blood of males increases with age, and it is associated with diminished survival and an increase risk of various diseases. However, it is not known if the loss of the Y chromosome has a causal role in age-associated diseases or whether it is an epiphenomenon of biological aging processes. We will employ novel mouse models to test whether the loss of the Y chromosome in blood cells impacts pathological cardiac remodeling.
