Stress, Weathering, and Blood-Based Biomarkers of Alzheimer’s Disease: A Longitudinal Study of Low Income, Aging African Americans

Description: Project Narrative African Americans are often not included in research on Alzheimer's disease (AD). This omission is critical given that they are at least twice as likely as whites to develop AD and evidence suggests that the nature of the pathology and the pathways to onset may be quite different for African Americans compared to whites. The proposed research will use data from a 25-year ongoing study of several hundred African American families to investigate the extent to which a variety of environmental, lifestyle, and genetic factors contribute to the development of AD in this sample.
