Epigenetic Reprogramming of Cellular Age
Description: PROJECT NARRATIVE Exposure of old cells and tissue to young blood leads to their rejuvenation. Likewise, exposure of young cells and tissues to old blood leads to their accelerated aging. However, how a cell is able to reset its age in response to factors in the blood remains a mystery. The main focus of the studies of this proposal is to explore the mechanisms that regulate cellular age and that are required to reset the age or a cell, either to an older age or a younger age, in response to exposure to old or young blood.
