Excision Repair of Environmental Telomere Damage
Description: Telomere maintenance is essential for genome stability and the prevention of cancer and degenerative diseases. The proposed research will examine how environmental genotoxic and oxidative stress cause accelerated telomere shortening, and the pathways that preserve damaged telomeres. This project will reveal how various forms of telomeric DNA damage impact telomere function, cellular function and organism health.
