Genetic Analysis of MicroRNA Functions in Skin Stem Cells In Vivo
Description: Project Narrative: In this project, we will directly visualize cell migration and proliferation promoted by a miRNA in intact skin using live imaging. We will also probe underlying mechanism mediated by the miRNA and its targets in balancing epidermal proliferation and differentiation in the epidermis and stimulating hair follicle growth. Knowledge gained from the proposed studies will provide new insights into our basic understanding of skin stem cells at molecular, cellular and tissue levels, with important therapeutic implications.
