(CIRCADIAN) Circadian Disruption as Mediator of Cardiometabolic Risk in Air Pollution
Description: NARRATIVE Air pollution is the world’s most important environmental risk factor that contributes more to global morbidity and mortality than tuberculosis, malaria, AIDS, wars and famine combined. In this transformative project, we provide compelling new data on air pollution as a disruptor of endogenous biologic “circadian” rhythms. Through careful studies in animals and humans and large cohorts, we will evaluate the impact of exposure and personalized interventions on heart and metabolic health. Our results will provide compelling new data to prevent the health problems caused by air pollution exposure globally.
