Het vaginoom als mogelijke triagemarker voor een persisterende HPV infectie die kan leiden tot baarmoederhalskanker
Description: Persistent infection with high-risk human papillomavirus (hrHPV) types is the main factor for the development of cervical cancer and its premalignant lesions. Infection with hrHPV is necessary but not sufficient for cervical cancer development, and additional factors are involved in disease establishment and progression. HPV infection-related vaginal microbiome could be an induce factor of cervical cancer. By studying the composition of the vaginome of women with and without hrHPV infection from the Dutch cervical cancer screening program we hope to identify markers which are related to persistent hrHPV infection and can predict higher risk for development of cervical malignancies.
