Investigating financial wellbeing, biological aging, and risk of Alzheimers disease and related dementias in a life course synthetic cohort

Description: Project Narrative Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias (ADRD) are a major and growing public health concern, but their life course social determinants have been difficult to study because most studies lack data on the full life span. This project will build a synthetic cohort from three component datasets that, together, cover the full life course to investigate the life course impact of financial wellbeing on later cognitive decline, ADRD risk, and disparities in these outcomes. In addition, we will examine whether accelerated biological aging acts as a mechanism through which these relationships operate and identify hypothetical age-specific interventions on financial wellbeing that could reduce ADRD burden and disparities.
