Understanding methionine metabolism and its therapeutic potential in cancer

Description: Diet can affect cancer cell metabolism and nutritional requirements to as large a degree as the oncogenes and tumor suppressor genes. Our preliminary data show that a specific dietary methionine restriction has anti-tumor properties alone or in adjuvant therapy in several cancer models. In this proposal I will dissect the nature of methionine restriction mediated anti-cancer effects for its therapeutic application.
