Mitochondrial Fidelity in Mammalian Neurons

Description: Project Narrative Impaired mitochondrial function is a point of convergence for numerous neurological, neurodevelopmental, and neurodegenerative disorders. In this proposal we investigate newly discovered long-lived mitochondrial proteins that persist for months in the mammalian brain. The proposed research will elucidate novel aspects of mitochondrial biology and new avenues of research into the processes of age-related neurodegeneration and beyond.
