Epigenetic Reprogramming to Counteract Neuronal Aging and Degeneration
Description: Project Narrative Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is a prevalent age-related disorder which imposes tremendous impact on patients, families, and public health, as there are currently no therapies to prevent it, cure it, or slow its progression. Our recent study has discovered an epigenetic reprogramming strategy that can rejuvenate aged epigenome in postmitotic neurons, promote neuronal survival, and induce axon regeneration. This project aims to understand the role of epigenetic dysregulation in neuronal aging and degeneration in the brain, and test the therapeutic effect of epigenetic reprogramming on the progression of AD.
