Investigating Cognitive Enhancement of Elderly People by Using Motion Video Games
Description: We have completed two out of three objectives. The third objectives are in progress. Details are as followed:1. *Development of a custom-made motion video game*: We have developed two versions of a game called Safari Move (motion version) and Safari Tap (non-motion version). In addition, we have developed two skill balancing methods, i.e., manual and dynamic. 2.*Investigation of elderly people capabilities and limitations in gross motor skills*: We adopted an ergonomic approach where we analyzed the simple gross motor skills of the elderly and young adults. Specifically, we investigated the spatial and temporal characteristics of arm and leg movements in basic directions and various time intervals. 3. (In progress) *Investigation of the intervention effect of the game* : Our experiment has already passed the university ethics committee. Now we are still in the progress of recruiting elderly participants for our experiment.
