An empirical model of attitudinal-behavioral pathway to successful aging: secondary data analysis
Description: This research project aims to develop an empirical model of attitudinal and behavioral antecedents linked to successful aging. Project builds on aging-related secondary analysis. Representative-longitudinal study samples drawn from the publicly available databases will be employed according to study cases and hypotheses. Attitudinal factors looked at are meaning in life, aging perception, optimism, emotional stability, and life satisfaction; behavioral factors include health-risk behavior and social and civic activity engagement. Successful aging is assessed using measures of physical health, cognitive assessment, and social well-being. The effects of demographic and social variables, psychological variables, and environmental perception will be examined in the path model to increase an exploratory mechanism of the model. Outcomes of the project are expected to provide insights into long-term and sustainable intervention development that nurture non-material asset of older adults for successful and positive aging.
