A novel method to identify regulators of biological aging
based on high-throughput sequencing of epigenetic clocks.

Description: Project Narrative Developing accurate, cost-effective, and scalable biomarkers of aging and age-related frailty could help in assessing longevity interventions in the lab or patient outcomes in the context of clinical trials of age-related disease. This proposal describes the development of a method for high-throughput assay of DNA methylation clocks, a robust class of age predictors, which will be used to make a novel type of biomarker based on age and mouse frailty scores. Additionally, this research will probe the mechanistic underpinnings of DNA methylation clocks and epigenomic change with age in mouse muscle using the novel method for clock analysis in combination with established genomic techniques.
