PQ#12; Targeting Nampt-mediated NAD+ metabolism in chemobrain
Description: PROJECT NARRATIVE In the United States, cognitive dysfunction stemming from chemotherapy is a major adverse condition affecting approximately 14 million cancer survivors. Unfortunately, the underlying pathophysiological mechanisms remain unknown. The findings of this proposal are crucial towards elucidating a role for the Nampt-mediated NAD+ metabolic pathway in improving neuronal and cognitive dysfunction resulting from chemobrain. This understanding will provide insight into development of novel therapeutic interventions that target chemotherapy-induced cognitive dysfunction.
