Balance of Thymic Negative Selection vs. Treg Cell Generation in the Elderly

Description: PUBLIC HEALTH RELEVANCE: Relevance to public health: Age-related chronic inflammatory diseases can be tracked to thymic involution-released self-reactive T cells, which should be balanced by FoxP3+ regulatory T cells, whereas the mechanistic balance is currently unknown. By determining the mechanism of the balance and exploring a potential rejuvenation strategy to reach a rebalance, the rejuvenation process to prevent and cure chronic inflammatory diseases in the elderly will be eventually achieved. .
