Menopause Education and support: Building capacity and training to improve vasomotor, psychological and somatic symptoms in the menopause transition
Description: Psycho education is effective to alleviate vasomotor, psychological and somatic symptoms in the
menopausal transition. This has been demonstrated in international and more recently in a local
randomised controlled trial.
The aim of this project is build capacity in awareness and education and to deliver an effective intervention
for the symptoms of the menopause transition. This will involve the training of menopause ambassadors
which have basic knowledge and advice and also training of staff to conduct an 8 week menopause
psychoeducation programme, which has been proven to reduce menopausal symptoms.
As a seeding program, we aim to reach out to women and families across the territory, the program aims to
benefit over 5,000 mid life women through general education or interaction with health ambassadors and
over 50 women in a more intensive 8 week interventional program which can then self sustainable with
16-20 trained health ambassadors and 2 intervention trainers.
