Prospective renal insufficiency cohort evaluation: PRICE
Description: The CRIC study was to established in 2003 to study chronic kidney disease (CKD) progression by identifying novel predictors of CKD progression and risk factors for cardiovascular disease among individuals with CKD. The CRIC Study recruited and followed a racially and ethnically diverse cohort of 5,625 participants and has defined trajectories of CKD progression, catalogued development, and evolution of comorbidities in CKD, and identified a diverse array of factors that explain the progression and complications of CKD in adults. The final phase of CRIC will focus on ascertaining clinical outcomes for all participants including those enrolled in the at home sub-protocols and integrate data from multiple domains to identify sub-phenotypes underlying the heterogeneity in CKD progression outcomes and create mechanisms for future data collection via linkages with external sources of health data to generate tools and resources to facilitate ongoing use of CRIC data and biospecimens by a broad group of investigators in the future.
