Metabolomics clocks as a tool to explore mechanisms of aging
Description: Narrative Biomarkers can provide us with powerful tools for the prediction, diagnosis, prognosis, and ultimately prevention, of age-related diseases. Until now we have lacked good model systems to understand the mechanisms behind so-called “biological clocks”, which have become very popular biomarkers of aging. Using the fruit fly as a powerful experimental system, we develop a new kind of biological clock based on measures of metabolites— the molecular building blocks found in all species—and use this novel clock to better understand aging.
