Wounding Therapy and Photocarcinogenesis
Description: RATIONALE The goal of the project described in this revised proposal is to extend our ongoing clinical trials to determine whether wounding of aged skin can prevent the occurrence of non-melanoma skin cancers. Furthermore, studies are designed to examine the mechanisms responsible for wounding-induced protection from ultraviolet- light induced skin cancer, namely, how new fibroblasts populate aged skin in response to wounding. Finally, these studies will test a novel non-invasive imaging platform designed to predict skin cancer occurrence.
