UAB Obesity Training Program
Description: Obesity afflicts millions of American adults and children and is a problem of enormous public health relevance as it exerts a heavy burden on patient suffering and social costs. Its causes remain incompletely understood and, while available treatment and prevention approaches are improving, there is much room for improvement. We will train postdoctoral fellows and position them for independent research careers as they evolve to be our future scientific leaders in obesity, and will provide summer research fellowships to medical students to nurture interests in careers as future physician scientists.
