CHS research resources for the cardiovascular health of older adults

Description: PUBLIC HEALTH RELEVANCE: The purpose of the proposed study is to provide infrastructure support for the Cardiovascular Health Study, including the Coordinating Center, the Laboratory/Biorepository, the Field Centers for events data collection, modest support to 8 productive Working Groups, and mentored access to data and specimens. The CHS model represents a nimble method of investing modest resources in a high-quality research setting that exerts selective pressures for the emergence of innovative science and meritorious questions. The findings from CHS will be vital for the developing novel CVD preventive strategies and for improving the health of older adults in the US.
