Transcriptional Regulation of Autophagy in Promoting Proteostasis Upon Hormetic Stress

Description: PROJECT NARRATIVE Mild stress exposure can lead to hormetic benefits in many organisms, including via induction of the cell- recycling process of autophagy and improved protein homeostasis. However, the underlying mechanisms that ensure increased autophagy and improved proteostasis upon hormetic heat stress remain unclear. The proposed studies seek to identify such regulatory mechanisms, which may prove important for developing strategies to protect against human protein-folding diseases.
