Cell Identity Determination in Human Brain: Somatic Mutation and Cell Lineage

Description: Project Narrative This project aims to uncover the origins and development of different cell types in the human brain, which is crucial for understanding how our brains function and age and how a number of neurological disorders arise. By studying somatic mutations (genetic changes that occur after conception) in brain cells, we hope to generate a preliminary developmental map of the brain. This work will reveal important insights into brain health and aging, ultimately contributing to better treatments for neurological diseases.
