Impact of Diet on Intestinal Microbiota-Host Dynamics

Description: Project Narrative A complex community of microbes, known as the microbiota or microbiome, lives within our distal digestive tract and is intimately connected to human health. Diet has a major impact on the gut microbiota and different components of diet can positively or negatively impact human health via the microbiota. This project defines how specific molecular components of fermented foods impact the human gut microbiota, provide desired changes to the immune system, and prevent food allergy using a mouse model of disease.
