Oklahoma Nathan Shock Center of Excellence in Basic Biology of Aging
Description: NARRATIVE – OVERALL Aging is the major risk factor for a host of diseases that pose a significant burden on our society in terms of human suffering and economic cost. To help bring interventions to the clinic sooner, the Oklahoma Nathan Shock Center will focus on geroscience. We will elucidate the mechanisms of aging that underlie the etiology of those diseases through cutting-edge, unique technologies, and intensive support of the next generation of leaders in the field, that we will make accessible to the entire aging and geroscience research community.
