Evaluating the associations of hearing loss with cognitive and brain health outcomes in midlife

Description: Project Narrative Hearing loss in midlife (ages 45-65) is posited as a target for preventing Alzheimer's disease and Alzheimer's disease related dementias, but it is unknown whether hearing loss is associated with cognition or brain health in midlife. This study will link newly collected objective hearing tests with cognitive and brain MRI assessments in a well-characterized and diverse cohort of middle-aged adults. This study's findings will provide critical insights into midlife haring loss and brain health, which may offer an avenue for reducing late-life dementia risk.
