Il-6 and metabolic crosstalk between tissues

Description: PUBLIC HEALTH RELEVANCE: World-wide obesity rates pose a significant threat to public health. I propose to investigate the role of the cytokine Il-6 in the reversal of obesity-associate metabolic diseases. This research will contribute to the basic understanding of tissue crosstalk in metabolic diseases and hopefully lead to new therapeutic approaches to treat or prevent these devastating disorders.
