Examining the modulatory role of galanin in opioid reward
Description: PROJECT NARRATIVE Opioid use disorder represents a major public health crisis with limited effective treatment options. This proposal seeks to determine how the interaction between the neuropeptide, galanin, and opioid receptors impacts opioid reward. Determining where and how galanin acts in the brain could identify novel therapeutic targets for opioid use disorder, offering insights into the neurobiological mechanisms and informing future interventions.
