UNC Core Center for Clinical Research
Description: PROJECT NARRATIVE The pain and loss of function that results from rheumatic and musculoskeletal diseases (RMDs), combined with their high prevalence, contributes to substantial disability in the population. Among RMDs, osteoarthritis (OA) is the most common form of arthritis and a leading cause of pain and disability among older adults worldwide. Our Center, focused on optimizing clinical studies in OA and other RMDs through advanced methodologic approaches including phenotyping and precision medicine and broad subject area expertise, will have a sustained impact on the field by enhancing and enriching high quality, innovative studies to improve the understanding of disease mechanisms and targeted interventions for prevention and treatment of OA and other RMDs.
