Delineating Molecular Mechanisms Underlying Liver Progenitor Cell-Driven Liver Regeneration
Description: Narrative Liver transplantation is the only effective treatment for patients with end-stage liver diseases; however, the shortage of donor livers makes this therapy very limited. If innate liver regeneration can be augmented in the patients, it will mitigate severe liver diseases and permit the patients to live longer. Our studies will delineate the molecular mechanisms underlying liver progenitor cell-driven liver regeneration and suggest EGFR inhibitors as promising pro-regenerative agents to augment liver regeneration in patients with chronic liver diseases.
