Sensory Aging, Late-Life Wellbeing, and ADRD Research Infrastructure to Catalyze Practice and Policy
Description: PROJECT NARRATIVE This project addresses critical fiscal and administrative barriers to substantially strengthen the infrastructure and impact of the SENSE Network, an international, collaborative scientific group that is a nexus for scientific interaction and interdisciplinary collaborations in sensory aging, a field connecting sensory health and gerontology, including the influence of sensory health on Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias (ADRD). The data, research and dissemination infrastructure created as part of this project will increase the pace of innovation and discovery, facilitate the development of interventions, and catalyze translation of innovative research to clinical care and policy. By accelerating and potentiating the impact of siloed researchers, data sets, and projects, the SENSE Network is poised to take a leading role in the field of sensory aging research, advancing science of aging through in-depth interdisciplinary partnerships and collaborations to positively impact the health of older adults in the U.S. and globally.
