Cytoplasmic chromatin fragments in cell senescence - novel mechanisms and interventions
Description: PROJECT NARRATIVE Tissue aging and disease is caused, in part, by accumulation of pro-inflammatory senescent cells in aged tissues. We will define novel molecular mechanisms responsible for this inflammatory phenotype and test novel interventions for their ability to suppress this proinflammatory pathway. This can provide new targets and strategies for interventions in humans to promote healthy aging and longevity.
