Unraveling the mammalian secretory pathway through systems biology and algorithm development

Description: PROJECT NARRATIVE Each cell interacts with its environment, and 1000s of human genes encode the needed hormones, receptors, transporters, and enzymes. Most are produced in the secretory pathway, but the complexity of this pathway makes it difficult to diagnose the molecular basis of associated diseases, including Alzheimer’s disease, metabolic syndrome, cancer, and many infectious diseases. Here we develop a computational platform and experimental data resource enabling researchers to study the pathway as a whole system.
