A Screen for Identifying Insomnia Genes

Description: Project Narrative Dysregulation of sleep presents an enormous health burden throughout the world. This proposal implements gene-editing based screening to identify novel regulators of sleep in the Mexican cavefish, an emerging model system with naturally occurring loss of sleep. Functional investigation of the genes and neural circuits regulating sleep loss will further our understanding of insomnia and other sleep-related disorders.
